Workshop Kickoffs

Kinsey Wilson – Automattic

We’re excited to share that Automattic’s own Kinsey Wilson will be kicking off the Workshop and getting us all set for a great week in Napa. He’ll be sharing his insights on the future of digital, along with how product owners can lead transformational change at their organizations. Plus, we’ll be collecting questions ahead of time, so he can tailor his focus to what’s most important to the room.

Kinsey recently joined Automattic as the President of, and previously held executive roles at the New York Times and NPR. Kinsey is a visiting fellow at Harvard’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy, and a member of the Board of Visitors for Stanford’s John S. Knight Fellowship. Howard Rheingold – Author and Lecturer

On Day Two of the Workshop, we’ll hear from Howard Rheingold, a Bay Area local, and lecturer at Stanford and Berkeley on digital journalism, social media literacies, and social media issues. He’ll be sharing his insights on online collaboration, participatory media and collective action.

Howard has written books about consciousness (Higher Creativity – 1984 and Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming – 1988), history of mind-amplifying technology (Tools for Thought – 1985), Virtual Reality (1991), the birth of social media (The Virtual Community 1993), the social revolutions growing from the hybrid of mobile telephones, digital media, and the Internet (Smart Mobs 2002) and social media literacy (Net Smart 2012). He’s also given a TED talk on online cooperation. As you can see, Howard has always been ahead of the times!
